How to Prevent ACL Injuries

How to Prevent ACL Injuries
ACL (anterior cruciate ligament) injuries are very difficult to handle for athletes because of the long recovery process. In certain cases, nothing that can be done to prevent this when athletes run into each other–creating major contact, thus causing the ACL or other joints and ligaments to tear. Research shows that the majority of ACL injuries come from non contact movements while changing directions, deceleration (slowing down after a sprint) and or landing improperly after jumping. There is also overwhelming evidence to support that female athletes are at a higher risk of knee injuries than their male counterparts, due to their body structure.

Is there anything that can be done to prevent this?

Yes! With proper training, you will be able to lower the risk of ACL injuries by 90%. This in itself is a great reason why athletes need proper training… not only to reach their full potential, but to reduce the risk of suffering devastating injuries that sometimes end an athletes career earlier than anticipated.
