Six Steps to Fitness Success

There are many diets, supplements, and fitness programs out there that promise you will reach your goals in an amazing amount of time and in a few cases, they promise that you do not need to do anything.  We have found that there are timeless principles that will guarantee your success and keep you healthy for the long term.  It might take more time than you want but if you are willing to commit at least three months to your goal and follow these recommendations, you will achieve your goal or at the very least be close to it.

The first step in achieving any goal is to write down exactly what you want to accomplish and a specific date to complete it by.  By writing your goal down and placing it somewhere you can see it regularly, you will have something definite to work towards which is extremely important when you start anything new.  You need to know where you’re going so you will know when you arrive.  Without a goal you have no ending point and more than likely just stop when you start to feel uncomfortable.  By keeping it somewhere you can see it regularly you just keep it top of mind so it does not get lost in things you must do throughout your day.

The next step you must do is to get a nutrition plan.  What you eat and drink will be 80 to 90 percent of you accomplishing your goal.  We recommend that you seek the help of a professional if possible but if not eat healthier foods and cut out the unhealthy ones.  Start slowly to avoid drastic changes which will usually cause people to revert back to their diet because of the negative connotation of depriving yourself of what you usually eat.  Start by adding healthier foods that you like and cutting back slowly on the not so healthy foods.

After you got your nutrition plan in place, you need to get your workout plan going.  It is great to eat healthier but your body was designed to move.  Sign up for a fitness program that you enjoy.  The chances of you sticking with a program or exercises that you do not like long term is very slim.  It does not matter what you do as long as you enjoy it and you will stick with it long term.  We advise that you do something a couple times a week that improves your balance and strength.  When we age balance and strength start to go first.  If you have a program that works on your balance and strength, it will help you look and feel younger.

Along with a great nutrition and workout plan, staying optimally hydrated will help to achieve your goals faster.  Our bodies is more than 65 percent water so if we drink at least ½ of our body weight in ounces of water a day, it will get things moving in your body a lot better.  Your metabolism, cardio, digestive and all the other systems in your body work better when you are properly hydrated.  We recommend this especially for our athletes who have sometimes two practices or multiple games a day.

One of the most important steps that you can take to guarantee your success is working on your mindset.  If we can find ways to stay positive and enjoy the process, you will give yourself a greater chance of achieving our goal.  Have you ever seen anyone win a championship at anything and not be happy after?  We have to visualize our goal is achieved and act like it daily.  There will be struggles to go back to the same habits but we must remind ourselves of the task at hand and know we are going to get there by the choices we make today.  You can read books on sports psychology and visualize your goal already accomplished to help your mental and emotional state to stay positive.  Watch funny shows, movies and things that inspire you to be your best.  Block out all negative thoughts and information (including the news) because it does not help you towards your goal.

The last thing you can do is to have a coach or someone keep you accountable to your goal, nutrition and exercises plan.  This is vital for achieving any goal.  The accountability of someone checking in on you is paramount.  There are going to be days that you do not feel up to it.  We are human and it is normal.  The key here is that if you know that you have to talk to someone or have to meet someone somewhere for a workout, the chances of you doing it increases by more than 90 percent.  If you only do the first couple of steps, you will stop when it gets too hard or when you get uncomfortable.  By having someone to hold you accountable and also investing some money into a program you will increase your chances of achieving your goal.  When you make a financial commitment to anything you are more likely to do it.

These action steps when followed will guarantee your success in your fitness program.  In fitness, there are several things that make it easier but you need to build the will power to follow through on executing these habits.  When you can master these, being fit will become easy and your new normal.  Let us help you to achieve your fitness goals.  Contact us today and we guarantee that you will achieve your results in three months or less.
