How To Prevent Concussions

Here at DM Athletics, we continue to actively seek solutions for improving strength, speed, agility, performance and the reduction of injuries. The University of Cincinnati has used the D2 to help improve their athlete’s peripheral vision–and it has consequently reduced the number of concussions on their football team by eighty percent. The theory is, that if an athlete can see a hit coming, they can better prepare themselves for the impact. Studies have shown that it is the hit that they do not see, which causes the majority of concussions. We, along with Sports Reaction Center recommend all athletes to utilize this tool.

Sports Reaction Center is a physical therapy clinic for active people and athletes. In addition to working with local rugby, soccer and triathlon teams, the clinic has consulted with the trainers who work for the Seattle Seahawks, Mariners, and Sounders. Founder Neil Chasan has treated athletes since 1982, having served as a consultant to the US Olympic Training Center High Performance Staff, and also as a member of the Sports Medicine Staff of USA Rugby in international Test Matches. Chasan utilizes the D2–a light board that helps with peripheral vision awareness on one hand, and reaction time on the other. Top athletes in all sports from basketball to NASCAR use this tool to improve their performance. For additional information, visit www.srcpt.com or call 425-643-9778.
