In dealing with athletes who are trying their best, we sometimes negate what can be done to fine tune, in order to make them feel more secure. When an athlete feels secure that he or she will not lose their support–usually of their friends or family, based on their performance–they will play with a clear mind and perform higher.
It’s not uncommon to encounter parents who are extremely supportive of their child’s athletic career. We try and support parents in how important it is, that their child feels their support and love whether they win or lose. Studies are clear that when people feel supported regardless of how they perform, performance will ultimately be a lot higher.
There are a few findings that support this research. The primary one being that when the pressure is off, the athlete is enabled to just have fun and react. When the athlete feels the stress of that kind of pressure, they will not perform at their best.
A strong support system at home, great coaches and athletic programs, and a well-researched program from DM Athletics, will guarantee success. Contact us now and discover your potential!
