How to Jump

Most athletic programs you find, will try to focus on getting you more powerful and explosive; to improve your vertical.  What we have found to be more successful, is to teach the proper jumping technique.  When our athletes learn the proper technique, their verticals improve immediately.  This may take some time, as it requires retraining ones self on how to jump–and for some athletes, it might take a lot longer than others.

The next thing we work on, is getting into position.  The majority of programs will not train getting in the proper jumping position, when they are repetitions that cannot be manufactured in any other way.  If your goal is to jump higher, you must first learn how to do it properly, and then maintain what you’ve learned, with exercises that reinforce that motion.

Practice, practice, and practice.  You have been jumping the way you jump your whole life, so you will not learn a new technique overnight.  One of our athletes took over four months of training with us to finally get it.  He went from jumping a 31 inch vertical, to jumping 38 inches, when he finally learned the concept.  It is well worth the time and dedication you put into it.

You may be able to learn and do it yourself, but your results will not be optimal.  Having a knowledgeable coach that can adjust and tweak techniques to insure you achieve the goals you want, will get you to your goal faster than on your own.  It is like exploring a new place on your own, as opposed to having an experienced guide that can lead you to things, observe and adjust in real time.  Contact us now and we will help you achieve your goals!
