How We Eliminated ACL Injuries for Our Athletes

 

ACL injuries are a big problem in sports.  Every year there is about 200,000 ACL surgeries that take place in this country.  We have had no non contact ACL injuries since we implemented our system 7 years ago.

 

How do we do it?

 

The image above is how we approach training our athletes to help them perform their best and eliminate the risk of ACL injuries.  The foundation of what we focus on is the structure of the athlete.  We utilize techniques to help our athletes’ bodies into proper alignment.

 

After we do that then we focus on making sure they can move in all planes of motions without any restrictions.  Once we clean that up we can focus on their strength and endurance.  We use a lot of single leg exercises so we can hit muscles that help stabilize the knees and hips during competition.

 

Without working in this progression, something will be missed.  An extremely few coaches no how to execute this because it took me ten years to figure this out.  I became obsessed with training and figuring out how to improve performance and limit injuries after my experience of getting hurt and losing my ability to run, jump and change direction.
