Meditation and prayer in silence, is a great way to ease your mind. So much of our day is filled with endless to-do lists, and an innumerable number of distractions. Through silent meditation, we are able to quiet down our minds and ease the stresses we face.
Journal your gratitude! Writing down a couple of things you are grateful for each day, shifts your mindset to positive. It is extremely easy and in fact normal to think about all of the bad things going on in our lives–yet when we focus on the good things, we set ourselves up to experience more of that throughout our day.
Now, you may or may not feel so good about this next one. But it’s working out. There’s no way around it–it’s crucial that we get our bodies moving, and our lungs working. You can go on a run, to the gym or even do something at home. The point is to do something. The benefits of exercise span both the physical and mental–so give your body some attention. Start easy, and work up the intensity as you go.
Other recommendations from Elrod’s book, are that you read, and practice daily affirmations and visualizations. You can spend one minute on each, or up to ten minutes. The important thing is that you start.
