Why Taking Responsibility is Powerful

Blame. It’s something that we have all struggled with, at one point or another. Taking ownership for our choices and actions, can often feel like a burden too heavy to bear.  Yet, pointing the finger at others, is completely and utterly unproductive. While it’s important to take note of the circumstances we are in, and the cards we’ve been dealt, we must also work hard to own our choices and the consequences of those choices.

Don’t give away your power to change Your situation.  In Coach John Wooden’s book, Wooden on Leadership, he states “…you are only a failure when you start to blame others, or fate, for your results.”  When we shift our focus, we then can focus on solving the problems we face with clarity.

There’s an expression regarding running away from your problems. The message is that wherever you go, they will follow you–for you are still you no matter where you go. You will always bring your own quirks, insecurities, and strengths with you. Grab a hold of those things, and own them! Discern what you like and dislike, and face them head on.  Focus on what you can control and do not worry about what you cannot control.

Now, let’s talk performance. If you have struggled getting playing time, taking that next step on your team, or have suffered from constant injuries, we have the solutions to improve your performance and keep you healthy.  Contact us now, and book a free consultation which will take your performance to the next level.

Sincerely,

Donny Mateaki
